Wedding Guest Dresses…One’s You’ll Want to Wear Again and Again

The invites have landed, now it’s time to find the dress…

With wedding season upon us, it’s time to work on your guest outfits.

There were plenty of spring summer designs on the catwalks that were the stuff of wedding dreams, but if you can’t afford Dior or Preen, then you’ll be pleased to know that the pretty sheer details, embroidery and frills which were trending on the runways have filtered down to the House of Intrigue!

Ask Annette & Debbie: Is the Cold Shoulder Still Cool?

Dear Annette & Debbie, Off-the-shoulder tops and dresses are practically everywhere, and while I love the shape, I wonder if it’s too late for me to commit to the trend. Is it on its way out? Is there a way I can make it feel fresh? —Morgan W.

Dear Morgan, We are of the belief that the cold shoulder isn’t going anywhere—and for good reason: it’s feminine, creates a beautiful silhouette, and elevates everything from cutoffs to jeans to dresses. The other good news is that there are so many fresh iterations of the trend, whether you want to keep it demure or pump up the volume, there’s something for every comfort level here at Intrigue.

If you’re apprehensive about revealing too much for the office, or just like to keep it simple, opt for a top or dress that shows off subtle slivers of collarbone and décolletage. Pair with a platform shoe and add a dramatic earring to finish.

Straps, ruffles, and asymmetrical details are the next step. Ultimately, these necklines are more festive and make the most sense in a dressed up scenario; you’ll want to balance the intricate details with subdued classics—pencil skirts work particularly well, even denim.

We love the drama here. These elaborate blouses can go both ways: super dressed-up with elevated pants or a skirt, even a streamlined jean for a night out. Keep the shoes and bag simple so they don’t compete with the neckline.

Hope these tips helped! Remember, we are just a phone call, message or drive away.

What to Pack for Memorial Day Weekend: A List of Stylish Summer Essentials

From beach escapes to barbeques packing for a short getaway can be stressful, especially if you’re prone to throwing everything you own into a suitcase. The less time you spend packing the more time there is for you to enjoy your weekend away. Check out our packing essential picks below in honor of the kick off to the first weekend of Summer.

It’s all about mixing and matching!

From day to dinner a pair of shorts, a silk blouse, sandals and a tote will keep you casual yet looking polished and chic.

Taking a dip in the pool or the ocean? Your swim suit will store neatly in your tote which will transition nicely all through the day.

Take that same tote and sandals, pair it with a chic mid length dress for the evening and your set!

We feel that these few things are the only things you’ll really need all weekend, besides maybe your foundations and a good margarita recipe! Plus, they’re all easy to pack up, meaning you’ll have that weekend bag zipped up and ready to go in six minutes flat (roughly). No reason why the packing process can’t be as stress-free as the weekend itself, right?

MAXI mize it!

Maxi dresses are the staple of the summer season.  Easy breezy in the heat, they seem to be making their way into every woman’s closet.  With the following guidelines ensure the best fit for your body shape and the “wear with” pieces to take you from day to night.

For starters, make sure to choose the right undergarments.  Wardrobe essentials such as a convertible bra and power panty will work with every style.  Consider a sleek cami for layering as it can keep a skimpy dress from feeling too bare!

If you have a curvy figure, the maxi length adds height and a cap sleeve is sure to be bra-friendly; a waist-cinching-drawstring will add curves to a boyish frame; a shoulder-baring-top and empire-waist will draw the focus upward to the neckline and jewelry accents…great for a pear shape frame.

To maximize your look, a simple knot at the bottom of a jersey hemline can make for walking with ease.  If you are seeking a very casual day look, go low-key with your shoes…flip flops, sandals, low heeled wedges are best.

Fancy up your maxi a little or a lot with a denim jacket, vest or blazer…tres chic!  You’re ready…have fun wherever you go…You’re Intrigue-ing!
